"You have cancer," echoes the doctor. These 3 words will send your life into pieces. Many of the pieces you would like to throw away such as tests, C I scans, surgery, chemo, radiation, side effects, pain and the long wait for results. But God has a plan for you; Jeremiah 29:11 reads, "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Praise the Lord, for the plan God gave to First Baptist of Marilla to begin a quilt ministry to help those who have cancer by encouraging and faithfully praying for each individual. Given out to each person with cancer is a bag, quilt, card, and book to show that God is still at work putting each piece of their life together. Many women, girls, and boys are serving God by drawing, sewing, or tying a knot. How about you?

The Hands To Heart Ministry Quilt
This quilt is sewn together from leftover pieces of fabric of some quilts we have given out since the ministry began in 2010. Each 9" square represents a full quilt. The 9" square has 4 blocks. Three of the blocks are made of many pieces which represents how cancer turns your life into pieces. For a cancer patient there are days when you don't think you can go on. But God gives us the strength; Philippians 4:13 reads, "I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me." The 4th block is a whole piece of fabric which represents how God, our Creator, and Ultimate Healer, makes us whole again.
As you view the Hands to Hearts Ministry Quilt, please reflect on the beauty that God makes of our lives even when we see only the pieces. Encourage a friend or relative you might know who has cancer by requesting a quilt at the Welcome Center. Pray to know if the Lord is leading you to serve with Hands to Hearts Quilt Ministry. Faithfully pray for the many who are battling cancer. God hears and answers each prayer. May our light shine as we serve our Savior.
